Area = 42000m2
Linroc k-Fix (PIR)
Location: Mansfield
A 43,000m2 roof! The existing waterproofing was near the end of its life and a 40mm recovery board was specified to go under the new single ply membrane. Giving the existing roof a thermal upgrade and much needed refresh with a new waterproofing system. The upgrade enabled the client to achieve a new system guarantee supplied through the waterproofing manufacturer giving peace of mind for the next phase of the buildings life.
The Challenge
This huge factory was in need of a thermal upgrade and new waterproofing. With a roof area of over 40,000m2 this project was vast!
During the works the factory had to continue production so it was important works were non-invasive and carried out quickly and efficiently.
Whilst a thermal upgrade was required it had to be carefully considered due to the heat generated in the factories production process, too much insulation and energy would be wasted cooling the building and too little and the reverse would be true.
The Solution
Discussions with building control ensued and it was agreed to use a 40mm Linroc k-Fix (foil faced PIR) board in conjunction with Protan single ply membrane for the waterproofing.
Programme was key, and with close collaboration and planning with our supply chain partners manufacture and delivery was carefully planned.
The Outcome
Once the start date was set, 3 phases were scheduled which saw 8 artics delivered over 2 days for each phase which allowed the roofing contractor to work to the tight programme.
The careful planning and supply chain collaboration ensured minimum disruption to the factories production and saw the project completed on time, its great when a project of this size goes so smoothly with everyone working so well together!
